The Raven Order
Courage, Integrity, Discipline, Compassion, and Service
Member Handbook
Whether you have joined seeking purpose, fellowship, personal growth, or an opportunity to serve others, you are now part of a community committed to developing honorable people.
The Raven Order is a secular order of modern knighthood. It is independent of any religion, political movement, or existing fraternity. Members come from many backgrounds, beliefs, and philosophies, united by a shared commitment to the Five Tenets, the Code of Honor, and honorable service.
The Raven Order is not a replacement for your family, faith, profession, or community. It is a path of character. The title you hold within the Order matters far less than the life you choose to live.
The purpose of the Raven Order is to cultivate honorable individuals through courage, integrity, discipline, compassion, and service.
Everything we do should strengthen that mission. If an action benefits the organization but weakens its mission, it is the wrong action. The mission always comes first.
Membership is not a reward. It is a commitment. It is also a promise to yourself and to your fellow members that you will strive to live according to the principles of the Raven Order.
No one is expected to be perfect. Everyone is expected to keep trying.
A Knight is recognized not by clothing, titles, or symbols. A Knight is recognized by conduct. The Raven Order values quiet acts of integrity over public displays of virtue.
Our measure is simple: leave people better than you found them whenever reasonably possible.
The Code of Honor is intended to guide everyday decisions. The Code is practiced daily, not only during ceremonies or meetings.
Service is the willing use of your character, abilities, and resources to strengthen others, improve your community, and uphold the mission of the Raven Order. Service respects both the dignity of those being helped and the sovereignty of the one providing help.
Service is never measured by publicity. Quiet service carries equal honor. Service should never become self-destruction. You cannot continually care for others while neglecting yourself. Healthy boundaries are honorable.
Disagreement is natural. Disrespect is not.
Members come from many backgrounds. Some follow religions. Some follow spiritual traditions. Some follow none. The Raven Order does not determine which beliefs are correct.
Every member is free to pursue their own path. No member may use the Order to pressure another into adopting religious, spiritual, political, or philosophical beliefs.
Conflict should be handled directly whenever possible.
Public arguments should be avoided whenever possible. Protect relationships before protecting pride.
When representing the Raven Order, be respectful, avoid unnecessary hostility, speak honestly, do not use the Order to harass others, and remember that your conduct reflects upon every member.
Personal opinions remain your own. They do not automatically represent the Raven Order.
Trust is earned. Members should protect personal information shared in confidence. Confidentiality may only be broken when someone's immediate safety is at risk or when required by law.
Observe. Learn. Ask questions. Develop good habits.
Practice the Code. Serve others. Study. Accept mentorship. Develop practical skills.
Live the virtues consistently. Mentor others. Accept greater responsibility. Lead through example.
Stand beside those carrying heavy burdens. Preserve the heart of the Order. Protect its mission. Offer guidance without domination.
Steward the organization. Support Chapters. Protect governance. Serve the membership.
Preserve the history. Share wisdom. Teach traditions. Guard the long memory of the Order.
Ceremonies exist to recognize meaningful moments within the lives of members.
Ceremony exists to remind us of our commitments. It does not create character.
Every Chapter exists to serve its community first and the reputation of the Raven Order second. A Chapter that loses sight of its mission loses sight of its purpose.
Each Chapter may develop local traditions provided they remain faithful to the Charter and Constitution.
The insignia of the Raven Order are reminders of responsibility. Wear them with humility. Never use them to demand respect. Earn respect through conduct.
Your rank does not determine your worth. Your titles do not define your character. Your words do not prove your honor. Your life does.
Walk with courage. Lead with humility. Serve with compassion. Stand with those who cannot stand alone. Leave the world better because you were here.
